# What is Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)?

**Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) occurs when an ATM or card terminal offers to charge you in a currency different from the one you're using for the transaction.**

For example, an ATM in the UK might offer to give you cash in GBP but charge you in EUR.

To ensure you get the best exchange rate, always choose to be charged in the local currency of the country you're in. For instance, if you're in Thailand, select the Thai Baht; in Spain, choose Euros; and in the United States, select US Dollars.

If you opt for DCC, the ATM provider may apply their own exchange rate, which is usually not as favorable as the interbank rate.
